"Truth in taxation" (TnT) is a process first enacted by the legislature in 1988 to enhance public participation in Minnesota’s property tax system.

The TnT process consists of these three components:

• Each local government is required to formally adopt a "proposed levy" in September for the upcoming year; the final levy, when ultimately adopted, may not exceed the proposed levy.¹
• County auditors generate parcel-specific notices of proposed taxes for all parcels of property based on the proposed levies.
• Each local government is required to hold a public meeting after the notices come out where budget and tax issues are discussed, and where public testimony must be allowed, prior to adopting its final levy.

Description:  The Boy's Basketball Team will compete in a holiday tournament in St. Cloud December 29-30.  The team has met all of the overnight field trip requirements on the checklist and was approved by the committee.

Description:  Our pay rate for game workers has not kept pace with other districts and the cost of living.  The rates have not increased in the past eight years.

Currently, our game workers receive between $14 - $22 less in wages than workers in comparable schools.

Description:  At the September School Board Meeting, the preliminary 2023 Levy was approved at the maximum level.  The final property levy must be certified as a specific amount through a vote of the school board.  I am enclosing summary pages of the levy limitation and certification form.  I am recommending we certify the levy at $1,250,320.71 for the 2023 Payable 2024 levy which is a 3 percent increase on the 2022 payable 2023 levy.

Description:  The needs assessment (NA) provides a holistic evaluation of our current facilities.  The NA covers:

•  A demographic analysis
• Values definition analysis.  This will be conducted over separate values definition sessions with Students, School Board and Administration, Elementary Staff, High School Staff, and Community members.
• Educational Adequacy.  This is a detailed summary comparing the Nevis teaching space against the Minnesota standards for education adequacy.
• Facilities inspection.
