4.A. 2019 CAPSS Leadership Award Student Recipients
Rationale:

The Superintendent Student Award Recognition Program was instituted in 1986 by the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents.

The goal when selecting students, is to focus on students whose accomplishments and activities go beyond academic success and include service and leadership, making them role models for other students.

Six students, 2 from each school were chosen from Killingly Memorial School, Killingly Intermediate School and Killingly High School. This award is a chance to recognize outstanding students.They are helpful to their peers, hardworking and quiet leaders who lead by their examples and stand out.

It's important for students who receive this award, and the many students who demonstrate similar characteristics, to know they are important and their efforts are noticed.

Approximately 50 students from Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Harvard H. Ellis Technical School, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson, Sterling, Woodstock, and Woodstock Academy will receive Certificates of Excellence on January 14th at 5:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Middle School.

The Killingly students chosen this year are:

  • Jacob Long & Sophia Moran from Killingly Memorial School
  • Raigan Leveille & Lauren Farquhar from Killingly Intermediate School and;
  • Faith Boateng & Christopher Pawul from Killingly High School

Members of the Killingly community are encouraged to share their thoughts with the Board of Education and are invited to do so during this segment of the meeting.  However, in consideration of those in attendance and in an effort to proceed in a timely manner, comments will be limited to 3 minutes per person. Those making public comments will not be allowed to speak for a second time, until everyone wishing to speak has had an opportunity to do so. When appropriate to do so, members of the Board and the administration may respond to comments. Follow-up discussion may need to take place outside of the meeting setting.
