However, in consideration of those in attendance and in an effort to proceed in a timely manner, follow-up discussion may need to take place outside of the meeting setting.

Rationale:

During the 2014 legislative session the Legislature authorized Smart Start, a new program to expand pre-k education.  Smart Start focuses on public schools by offering a new, stable (over the next ten years) funding mechanism for both capital improvements and operating expenses.  Killingly’s application would allow 18 children to enroll in preschool, one teacher salary, and two part-time instructional assistants.  Capital improvements:  meet accreditation standards (install a bathroom in existing classroom space) and update playground and parking lot at Goodyear.  Communities to be informed of acceptance by end of January.
