  • TEC § 39.008 (Certification of Compliance): Requires the district superintendent to submit a signed compliance form to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) via AskTED no later than September 30. The school board must approve this certification by a majority vote during a public meeting held with at least seven days' advance notice. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • TEC § 11.005 (Prohibition on DEI Duties): Bans school districts from assigning diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) duties to any staff member, contractor, or volunteer. It also penalizes individuals who intentionally engage in or assign prohibited DEI activities. [1]
  • TEC § 28.0022 (Instructional Requirements): Prohibits staff from teaching certain controversial social or public policy topics outside specific bounds. However, teachers using State Board of Education (SBOE)-approved instructional materials with fidelity are protected from discipline.

VI. ADJOURN
If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551, Subchapters D and E or Texas Government Code section 418.183(f). Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting.
