The proposed revisions to Policy 5.12 Wellness reflect changes to Oklahoma law enacted through Senate Bill 1481 (2026), amending 70 O.S. § 11-103.9. The revisions establish forty (40) minutes of daily recess for students in full-day kindergarten through fifth grade, clarify physical education and physical activity requirements, and establish expectations for supervised, unstructured play.

Additional revisions clarify indoor recess procedures and align policy language with current District practices. These updates ensure compliance with state law while maintaining the District's commitment to student health and wellness.

The proposed revision to Policy 6.2-4.1, Testing Employees and Applicants for Employment (Other Than Bus Drivers) With Regard to the Use of Alcohol and Illegal Chemical Substances, aligns the District's policy with House Bill 3127, effective November 1, 2026. The revisions update provisions regarding medical marijuana testing, employee protections, and the circumstances under which the District may take employment action based on a positive marijuana test.
