I. Call the Meeting to Order
A. The April meeting of the Wayne Community School District Board of Education is called to order on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. B. Wayne Community Schools mission is committed to the success of all students and the development of lifelong learners, and our vision is "Learning for Life, Every Student, Every Day." C. The meeting was posted at Wayne Community Schools, published in the Wayne Herald (4/7/26), and online: www.wayneschools.org D. Anyone desiring to view the Open Meetings Act may do so. The document is available for public inspection and is located on the north wall of the Library. Wayne Community Schools may go into closed session to discuss certain agenda items to protect the public interest or to prevent needless injury to the reputation of an individual, if such individual has not requested a public hearing. Discussion:
Molly Redden and Sidney Chase, Providence Medical Center Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist, discussed the PAL (Pushing All Limits) group. They meet with students weekly and do fun physical and occupational therapy activities.

Wayne State College High School Art Day Participants, State FFA Qualifiers, Boys and Girls Bowling Teams, and Regional Science Fair Participants were honored in April.

Discussion:
Seniors last day will be Friday, May 8, 2026. Graduation is Saturday, May 16, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Jr/Sr High School Gym. The final day for preschoolers will be Friday, May 15, 2026, with graduation on Thursday, May 14, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Early Learning Center Gym. The final day for Kindergartners will be Monday, May 18, 2026. The final day for grades 1-11 will be Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with a noon dismissal. Teachers final day will be Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

V.a.I.1. SRO Interlocal Agreement Update
Discussion:
Dr. Lenihan met with Police Chief Marlen Chinn and City Administrator Wes Blecke. They all agreed that things are going well with the Student Resource Officer.

V.a.I.2. Strategic Plan Update
Discussion:
Dr. Lenihan presented the Strategic Plan information compiled by the Nebraska Association of School Boards. He also discussed possible dates for a Board Retreat.

|
V.a.II. Special Education Director
Discussion:
Mrs Beair discussed the Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) Grant. With the money, books have been purchased to be used for Early Literacy bags and a mobile library. The grant is renewable every year.

V.a.II.1. EL Review
Discussion:
Mrs. Beair reported on the number of students being served in the English Language department. She also discussed the qualifications.

V.a.III. High School Principal
Discussion:
Mr. Plager stated prom went well. ACT tests are completed. Jr. Job Shadow Day will be April 27, 2026.

Discussion:
Mr. Plager stated there were no early graduates this year.

V.a.IV. Junior High Principal/Activities Director
Discussion:
Dr. Lenihan reported in Mr. Wragge's absence. Wayne will host the Mid States Conference Track Meet on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Kern Track and Field.

Discussion:
Mr. Diediker thanked WEB for providing K-6 students an anti-bullying assembly.

Discussion:
Mrs. Maas stated the Father/Daughter Dance went very well. She also gave upcoming dates on things happening before the end of the school year.

Mr. Rusty Parker stated the Foundation awarded seven IDEA grants to teachers this year. The Alumni Tournament went very well.
