Rationale:
These proposed changes are being made to ensure equitable instructional time across all quarters in the 2026-2027 school calendar. After further review, we found the original calendar created unequal instructional time, which particularly impacted middle school quarter-long courses. The initial intent was to allow additional time after conferences for grade improvement, but the imbalance created inconsistencies in instruction. To address this, we adjusted the end dates for Quarter 1 and Quarter 3. We also added a two-hour early release day to provide dedicated teacher work time on those days as they are normally in conjunction with a professional development day and teacher work day.
