3.5. Approval of the 2022-23 School Calendar
Discussion:
The proposed calendar has been drafted to represent past calendar trends and alignments. Input was sought from the EA, parents, and administration of the district resulting in one significant change. The change is moving PLC early release dates to Friday afternoons. In a survey completed by over 400 parents, it was clear that the desire was for PLC times to remain in the afternoon (93%) but to be changed to Friday afternoon (68%).
This proposed calendar aligns with the MRVED professional development days. A discussion item regarding the calendar is in regards to the commencement date. Tradition has been for commencement to be held on Sunday following the last week of school. There has been discussion about this being changed to Friday evening of the last week of school. School Board input is welcome on this topic.
