Description:
ExCEL – Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership – is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who work voluntarily in their community.

6.2. Minnesota State High School League Triple A Award Nominees
Description:
The Triple A award recognizes seniors who have excelled in the areas of academics, athletics and the arts. Congratulations to Lane Schwarz and Kelsey Berndt for being nominated for this award!

Description:
This was Jorge's third time participating in the State Wrestling tournament. Previously he had placed 5th at 120 lbs and this year he placed 3rd at 126 lbs. Congrats Jorge!

Description:
Background:Minnesota Statue 123.34, Subdivision 1, states in part, “The persons who perform the duties of Clerk and Treasurer need not be members of the Board, and the Board, by resolution, may combine the duties of Clerk and Treasurer in a single person in the office of Business Affairs.” The day-to-day duties necessary for operation of the School District have been assigned by the School Board to District employees.
Recommended Action:The administration recommends Jackie Fahey be assigned the responsibility of serving as the Board’s Deputy Clerk. This appointment will be effective until the 2020 organizational meeting is held. |

Description:
Recommendation is to utilize School Perceptions for the community survey. The cost is lower, and we are able to provide more stakeholder voices to be heard. I believe utilizing a professional company will allow us to develop questions and analyze the responses to better determine our next steps for the facilities.

10.5. Consideration to change the 2018-19 school calendar.

10.6. Consideration to change the November 18, 2019 Worksession to November 19, 2019.
Description:
To allow attendance at the MREA Fall Conference, moving the November 18 work session would be favorable. Approval recommended.

10.7. Consideration to approve the changes to the 2018-19 and 2019-20 budget.

10.7.1. Reduce summer school programming for non IEP students.
Description:
The District is no longer eligible to receive funding for Targeted Services Summer School, I am recommending not to offer this program for this program. This will not affect extended school year programs as required by Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as these will remain in place.
Saving $41,971.35 for the 2019-20 budget. Savings for the 2018-19 budget will be approximately $15,000. |

Description:
Building a High-Performance School Board Team: Phase III focuses on methods of decision-making, stages of board development, navigating board dynamics, small-group interactions with school board video scenarios, and the MSBA School Board Self-Evaluation. Phase III training will be offered at MSBA in St. Peter on Wednesday, April 3.
Representing Your Community Through Policy and Engagement: Phase IV focuses on in-depth discussions and examples of a board member’s role as a policymaker and interactive small-group sessions that walk through an actual community engagement activity. Also, this workshop will have a segment on dealing with the media and public forums. Phase IV Training will be offered at MSBA in St. Peter on Tuesday, April 2. If you are interested in attending either training, please let Jackie know. |
11.2. Board Member Participation at the Retail & Business Expo - Thursday, March 28, 2019
Description:
The Retail & Business Expo will be Thursday, March 28 from 3:30 - 7:30 pm at the Valley Green Square Mall. Please select a timeslot you will be able to be at the Expo representing the School Board.
