Congratulations to Mitchell-Neilson’s Katie Capshaw who is the Tennessee Association of School Librarian’s State Professional Development Co-Chair and to Shannon Minner who is the TASL Area Representative for the Walking Horse Region. Congratulations to Lea Bartch and Dr. Stacey Burt who have been chosen to be on the State’s Gifted Focus Group. Mitchell Neilsen would like to thank Pastor McCarroll and the congregation of First Baptist Church, Castle Street, for the very generous donation of $150 and two Kindle Fires. We are blessed to have such great community partners! Mitchell-Neilson would like to thank Sandy Scheele and the MCS nutrition department for helping make our “We are Thankful for the 7 Habits” Family Dinner such a huge success! Mrs. Scheele and her crew served almost 600 dinners for us! What a great night! Reeves-Rogers School would like to thank the following community partners for their financial contribution to their Family Thanksgiving Dinner: Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church Smith Fork District Association Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Maple St. Congratulations to the Cason Lane Beta Club that walked away with several state honors: Essay Division 1: 1st Place, Myah Taylor. Digital Photography: 2nd Place, Kale Belcher. ELA 4th Grade: 3rd Place, Sydney Brown. ELA 5th Grade: 5th Place, Janya Parks. Many thanks to sponsors Nicollete Sanders and Taylor Brown, and to Carolene Goff and Kim Stewart who have given countless hours to help the Beta Club students succeed. Also congratulations to The Discovery School Beta Club who walked away with several honors:The Book Battle Team of Ansley Thornton, Ada Vance and Andrew Smith placed first.The Advertising Design Team of Ambria Greene, Khamirah King, Jana Bahloul and Lyla Wiley placed first. Also placing first was the Quiz Bowl Team of Rhett Shaw, Benjamin Elfersy, Cannon Murphree and Henry Ambrose. In individual academic competitions, Rachel Swicord was first in 4th grade math, Collier Pawlowski was first in 5th grade math, Ellie Gardner was 1st in 4th grade social studies and Griffin Minter was 3rd in 5th grade science. In visual arts categories, Caedryn Baggarly and Greyson Kekelis won 2nd place in the sculpture category, Cannon Murphree won 2nd in the woodworking category and Megan Zhao won 2nd in charcoal and pastels. Sponsors for the Beta Club at Discovery School are Dr. Kristy Mall and Mr. Jason Page. Congratulations to the Reeves-Rogers Buddy Walk Team and coordinator Alice Sally for taking top honors in the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee Nashville Buddy Walk School Challenge on November 4. As a part of Emmaline’s Entourage they raised almost $1,400 for the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee. Reeves-Rogers won the 1st place trophy along with $1,000 for the Reeves-Rogers special education department, a collection of Down Syndrome resource books and a training session. Commissioner Candice McQueen and Representative Bryan Terry will be at Rutherford County School Board Office on December 4 at 5:00 p.m. for an Education Roundtable. This will be a joint meeting between Rutherford County School Board and Murfreesboro City School Board. Questions for the Commissioner should be sent to Jared Barrett for the city or Lisa Moore for the county. |
