V.A. Discussion of and Consideration for the extension of the contract of employment for the Director of Schools, Dr. Versie Hamlett.

Motion that the contract of the Director of Schools be extended for 3 years beginning July 1, 2017 and extending until June 30, 2020 and recommending the salary base of the Director of Schools be increased 5% from its current base, the Director be granted 20 vacation days per year and that the car allowance be increased $4,000 passed with a motion by Mr. Lee Williams and a second by Mr. Chuck Samples.

The Superintendent's Report consisted of:

Thanks to the Board Members, community, staff and members of the clergy for their support.
Outlook for Humboldt City Schools for the next three years and the synopsis of the past three years.
School year data coming out soon
Renovation report
Recognition of a Beta Club student who competed and won 1st place across the State and will compete in Disney World during the summer.
A presentation from Brandi Cooper, Fashion Design and Visual Arts teacher, on projects her class is doing.
Tamara Comer reported on the Tennessee Advise Counselor award the HJSHS received.

VI. Citizens Concern

Discussion:

Crystal Pankey was happy and proud that the Board came together as one and are fighting together toward a common goal and our students and hopes to see great progress in Humboldt City Schools.

Lori Coleman thanked the Board for doing the right thing and extending Dr. Hamlett's contract. She thanked Mr. Hardee for gettting the process started and feels it is a step in the right direction.
