I. Opening Remarks
Discussion:
The Bedford County Board of Education met for a study session on July 9, 2026 at 5:25 pm in the Board of Education Central Office located at 500 Madison St., Shelbyville, TN. Board members Michael Cook, Brian Crews, David Brown, Dan Reed, Barton Williams, Glenn Forsee, Andrea Anderson and Shanna Boyette were present. Lana Craig was absent. Tim Harwell, Neil Watson, Sandy Sorrells, Sam Woolbright and Robert Daniel were also present.
Chairman Michael Cook opened the meeting. |

II. Aramark Contract
Discussion:
Aramark representatives, Will Sullivan and Andy Danboise, gave a presentation on what Aramark does for their clients and what services the client receives for their money.

III. Policy 5.303 Personal and Professional Leave
Discussion:
Mr. Harwell explained the changes from the state and his request that were going to be voted on at the next board meeting.

IV. Shelbyville Parks and Recreation Tennis Court Proposal
Discussion:
Mr. Harwell told the board about the proposal he was presented asking the school system to pay part of the cost to repave the tennis courts at the rec center.

V. Shelbyville Fire Department Proposal
Discussion:
Chief Doak presented a proposal to the board at the last board meeting that the Fire Department was requesting to buy the property behind Cartwright Elementary School. There was much discussion on this proposal. Glenn Forsee presented a projects concept for a path to building a new bus garage. Mr. Harwell is to draft a response to Shelbyville Fire Department.

VI. Bell Construction - New Central Office Numbers
Discussion:
Mr. Harwell presented the board with new budget numbers from Bell Construction and also from Jeff Sweeney.

VII. Future Capital Outlay Projects
Discussion:
The board discussed the need for new athletic facilities at Community and Cascade Schools.

Discussion:
The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:25.
