I. 2025-2026 Budget
Discussion:
The Bedford County Board of Education met for a study session on April 24, 2025 at 5:30 pm in the Board of Education Central Office located at 500 Madison St., Shelbyville, TN. Board members Michael Cook, Brian Crews, David Brown, Dan Reed, Glenn Forsee, Lana Craig and Andrea Anderson were present. Barton Williams attended via phone call and Shanna Boyette was absent. Dr. Tammy Garrett, Tim Harwell, Chad Fletcher, Christy Williams, Robert Daniel, Neil Watson and Daniel Kleindienst were present.
Chairman Michael Cook opened the meeting. Dr. Garrett explained the items on the budget highlights sheet that was in their packet along with the draft budget. Robert Daniel went over Debt Service and revenues. Chad Fletcher gave an update on federal programs and federal funding. In this current school year every school in our system qualifies as a Title I school. Next school year one of our schools will not qualify, as of now it is only 5 students short but that could change with system-wide enrollment in July. Christy Williams spoke on technology needs. It was proposed to order 2450 student laptops to replace the older ones and 800 teacher laptops for the coming school year. Teachers will be going to laptops only and no desktop in the future. It was discussed of leasing laptops versus buying laptops and which one would be more financially feasible for the system. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:00. |
