I. 2025-2026 Budget
Discussion:
The Bedford County Board of Education met for a budget study session on April 3, 2025 at 5:30 pm in the Board of Education Central Office located at 500 Madison St., Shelbyville, TN. Board members Michael Cook, Brian Crews, David Brown, Dan Reed, Glenn Forsee, Lana Craig and Andrea Anderson were present. Shanna Boyette and Barton Williams were absent. Dr. Tammy Garrett, Daniel Kleindienst, Tim Harwell and Robert Daniel also were present.
There was much discussion on the 2025-2026 budget. It was brought up about how many new positions the district will probably need for next year, whether to buy or lease laptops, and how much money was needed to stay in fund balance among other matters of the budget. Dr. Garrett stated that Federal money is still up in the air as to how much we will get and if some of the Title programs will be closed. Robert Daniel went over the budget line by line. Dr. Garrett answered questions from Board members. The TISA estimate for the 2025-2026 year is $92,473,378. The budget presented in the first draft includes a 4.5% raise for certified and a 6% raise for classified. The money needed for the raise and steps was approximately $3,000,000 which was the amount of the new revenue from the state. There are still needs in the following areas:
