        Discussion:
Tyler Powell with Bell Construction gave an update on Cartwright Elementary.  He provided a handout of aerial photos of the new school.  He said despite a few obstacles and delays they have overcome and are on schedule.  He stated that as of tomorrow (Friday) morning, they would be 100% finished with the footings.  The underground electrical and plumbing work is about 40 to 50% complete, right where it needs to be.  The structural should be started by the end of the month.  Everything is on schedule, right on time and on cost.

        Discussion:
Mr. Cook announced that June 29th, Thursday at Noon, will be a special called meeting to approve year-end budget amendments.  The next board meeting will be July 13th at 6pm at Central Office.  It’s a week early because of Summer Law.  He asked that the board members fill out the evaluation for Dr. Garrett and email it back to Felecia by next Friday.
Surplus property was declared for the Central Office Technology, CTE, Southside Elementary, and Eastside Elementary. |

        Discussion:
:  Dr. Garrett spoke on the personnel assignments for 2023-2024.  She talked about 3rd grade retention.  We have 36% of 3rd graders that are proficient in reading and language arts.  Two years ago we had 24% proficient, a 12% increase.  There were 27 students that did the retake and became proficient, we have 65 appeals that have been granted by the state, we had 111 students that were exempt from SPED services or ELL, and we have 17 students that will have to repeat the 3rd grade.  Brian Crews asked about the appeals and Dr. Garrett explained how it works.  Dr. Garrett also explained about the pathways on students going in to the 4th grade, the ones that need tutoring, etc.  She said the open enrollment process is going very well.  All applicants received their requests.

        Discussion:
Mr. Cook welcomed Lana Craig as the newest board member.
Dr. Garrett asked Neil Watson if he had anything and he spoke on job embedded applicants. Glenn Forsee asked about tutors. Chad Fletcher answered that you do not have to be certified to be a tutor. He said we have been really blessed with good folks who are genuinely interested in helping students. |
