The Board of Education of Hermantown Independent School District No. 700 met in regular session on July 14, 2025. Chair, David Hokanson, called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

Discussion:
Wietman. Mr. Matthew Brunette was selected to take part in a three-day work group with other teachers throughout Northern Minnesota testing new social studies curriculum.
Whitwam. Recognized the Extended School Year teachers and staff for their work this summer. |

Discussion:
Jen Bartsch spoke regarding concerns about the varsity baseball program and head baseball coach.

Discussion:
Members of the Board received correspondence regarding the baseball program. Responded to correspondence with policies regarding chain of command for personnel complaints.

X.A. Hermantown Recreation Initiative
Discussion:
NorthStar Ford Arena is still on schedule for a December 19 opening, as it is about 74% complete at this time. The target timeframe to turn it over to the school district is sometime around Thanksgiving. The old Hermantown Arena currently has four rusting doors and an old water heater that need to be replaced. The school district is working with HAHA to see if these are items that can be done once the building is turned over. The contractors are paving today in front of the building. Peterson brought up concerns about naming rights for rooms at the new arena.

X.B. District Office Update
Discussion:
The City of Hermantown is presenting the YMCA at Essentia Wellness Center Expansion Plan to the City Council on July 21. The new Hermantown District Office would be a part of those plans if the Board votes to move forward.
