VII.A. Elementary, Middle, High School, and Community Education Reports
Discussion:
Appelwick. Book Fair made a profit of $6,458. Thanks to Lisa Ball for organizing and parents for purchasing. Conferences had an attendance rate of 95%. Thanks to the PTO and Hermantown family-owned The Gumbeaux Guys for dinner. Thanks to the teachers for the time and effort getting ready for conferences. The Glow Run fundraiser is happening Wednesday. Thanks to Holly Martin and the PTO for organizing. We are up to about $26,000 of our $40,000 goal with two days left.
Wietman. Thanks to the middle school kitchen staff for preparing food and serving our students. Whitwam. October is Principal Recognition month. Thanked our building principals and recognized their efforts to the district. |

IX.A. Mike Pothast - MCA Testing Data
Discussion:
Mike Pothast presented MCA testing data for 2023-24. Hermantown outperforms the state in math across all grade levels, with the largest advantages seen in the lower grades. Hermantown students perform well above the state average in reading. Science is a strong area for Hermantown students. The largest gains over the state average are seen in the fifth and 10th grades, with students exceeding state performance by 25 and 24 points, respectively.

XI.A. Enrollment Update
Discussion:
Down three students to 2,079. The budget is based on 2,080 enrollment. Enrollment is typically steady this time of year.

XI.B. Hermantown Recreation Initiative
Discussion:
Superintendent Whitwam will be signing documents for the arena soon. Another arena meeting on Wednesday.

XI.C. 2025 MSBA Leadership Conference - Jan. 16-17
Discussion:
The 2025 MSBA Leadership Conference is January 16-17 in Minneapolis. They have already put out communication asking us to commit to rooms. Let us know who would like to attend.

XI.D. K-12 Special Education Program Review
Discussion:
Had a meeting on Friday with Principals to review the special education program review. Took the recommendations and assigned them to Northern Lights, SPED Teams, Admin Team, HR or TOSA. Will continue to meet and review.

XII. Committee Reports
Discussion:
Holst and Clauson. The Curriculum Committee met. Four teachers are piloting a Special Education reading curriculum program. Also, talked about the success of PLCs. Discussed how there has been a lot of talk about curriculum during PLC time.
Peterson. Mentioned that he would like for the Facilities Committee to meet soon. |
