Discussion:
Stephanie Schroeder presented on school happenings and course activities:
Freshman Seminar currently exploring identities. Astrobiology participating in "Grow Beyond Earth," a program that has students work with NASA on the international space station. Government students are proposing constitutional amendments. 9th Grade Health students are getting certified in CPR/First Aid. Biology just completed their first monitoring session with Bosque Monitoring Project- analyzing forest data from the school's environment. Advanced Spanish is doing a fashion show. Art classes working on "spooky" Victorian houses. History students recording their own podcast on the anthropocene era. Yearbook working on finalizing the cover and submitting their first 16 pages. French Class learning French fairytales, presentations on pop culture in French. English 11 students working on an "epiphany essay" |

Discussion:
Brad Hosmer shared the work of the committee that included two focus area in developing the vision for EMHS:
1- student/alumni-centric We are trying to narrow down a quality of life survey that can be administered to alumni 2- the school as an institution Discussion about the culture being impacted by asking a middle school. Discussion of faculty and administrator answers to the question: what would make you want to find a job at a specific school? All answers related to school climate. Brad shared sample items from OECD surveys/assessments that help gauge long-term problem solving abilities in students. |
