Transportation

Discussion: Mr. Gebhard shared that bus drivers had completed end of the year items and vehicles are currently being gone through in preparation of this fall. KDHE (Kansas Department of Health and Environment) issued a Notice of Award for the Kansas Clean Vehicles Program through Volkswagen Settlement - Environmental Mitigation Trust. The amount of the award is unknown at this time.

KESA Update

Discussion: Mr. Tharman updated the board that the requested information supplied last month was accepted and the Action Plan for 2026 - 27 school year is ready for implementation.

Discussion: There is no new information at this time on recommendations from KSDE. Mr. Tharman hopes to learn more at the budget meeting in Oakley next week.

Technology Update

Discussion: Two SMART boards have been ordered - one for the SPED room and one for the 3rd grade classroom.
Projectors have been moved / added / removed as needed, but need some cords run yet.
Twenty-five laptops were ordered to finally get us on the rotation basis at both the HS and MS.
Mr. Tharman has applied for a Safe and Secure Grant for additional external cameras (to cover blind spots) and updating the front door camera system.

Bach supplemental resignation

Summer Projects

Discussion: Mr. Tharman went through the list of contractors and projects lined up for the summer as well as projects the summer staff is currently working on: deep cleaning every room, switching Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade rooms, ordering items for teachers and staff, lawn care, all three gym floors refinished, carport completed, garage doors repaired, carpet installation, epoxy flooring done, lighting upgrades, and appliance replacements. With limited staff this summer and fall classes only two months away, everyone is very busy.

Administrative Reports

Superintendent / 9-12 Principal Report

Discussion: Mr. Tharman stated there is an NCKSEC meeting tomorrow where hopefully the financial obligation for the coming year will be decided; guessing it will be a sixty percent increase from last June's agreed amount.

K-8 Principal Report

Discussion: At 8:08 PM the meeting returned to open session.

Mr. Gebhard wanted to thank the St. Francis Society for their donation of $300 towards student lunch bills. Mr. Gebhard said that since the Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade rooms have been moved, that it was time to move the Title and SPED classrooms. Mr. Tharman stated that he had met with the two teachers and had decided that those changes would wait until the end of the summer and take place if there were enough time. Mr. Gebhard shared the possibility of having a softball tournament on July 18th to coincide with the Car Show. The in-service on May 20th was good. I recommend the board go into executive session to discuss non-elected school personnel to protect the privacy interests of the individual to be discussed; retaining Mr. Gebhard and Mr. Tharman and returning to open session in this room at 8:08 PM.
