Board president Adam Soto led prayer.

IV. CLOSED SESSION - Trustees will meet in closed session as permitted by the Texas Government Code Section 551.001 et.seq.
A. Deliberation on the appointment, employment, compensation, evaluation, assignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of employees pursuant to Texas Government code 551.074. B. Superintendent Evaluation C. Deliberation and Consultation with attorney regarding potential or contemplated litigation or matters involving attorney client privilege pursuant to Texas Government Code 551.071.

V. Open Session
A. Deliberation regarding the grievance of Derrick Bethany
Discussion:
Mr. Derrick Bethany request in open session.
Level 1 filed on Nov. 21, 2025 Appeal on level 2 — Feb. 26, 2026 March10th, 2026 denied the grievance. Level 2 to level 3 on April 22, 2026 Derrick Bethany - Presented his case and apologized to family. Represented - presented for Mr. Bethany, spoke there was no ill intent to it. He took accountability and understands what he did. Dr. Sanchez represented the school district. This is the the 2 offense of Mr. Derrick Bethany. Mr. Bethany's represented with closing comment states they will take this to TEA and have the school district investigated. Dr. Sanchez closing remarks |

V.1. Consideration and possible determination of the grievance of Derrick Bethany.
Discussion:
Board will deliberate in open session.
Asked about contract, Mr. Bethany's contract is "at will." Board asked Mr. Bethany if he was aware of what he was in his file. Mr. Bethany stated he did not. However document was signed by him and given a copy. Mr. Bethany stated the video shown of him following a student down the hall. The student was calling Mr. Bethany an inappropriate name continuous and another student made a verbal threat to him. 1st Motion: Move that we grant the grievance. 2nd Motion: Move that we deny the grievance. 3rd Motion: we do not agree in part and grant the grievance in part. Danny Salazar made motion and Sofia Rivera second on 2nd motion in denying the grievance. Motion is 6-0 Time is 6:46 hearing is concluded. |
