Deficit amount $4,591,663.00. 75% covers payroll and 25% covers other cost of the school. If welding shop is not approved the deficit will be 2 million, if welding shop approved it will be the 4.5. Staff freeze is also happening at this time. Iindividual statement was made: "The state of Texas is holding our kids hostage with the money that is suppose to be giving the state. The board still approved gave 2% raise with this. They believe until the state of Texas can help we continue in budget situation. Over 80% schools in the state of Texas are in the same position due to state of Texas. Board applauded PISD for doing what they can, making the deficit as low as possible. Board members are thankful for the staff doing what they do and doing the mandate of what the state requires. Board is also grateful we still have staff to be with the students.

Legal action over Commissioner Mike Morath. You have 80% of the district budget and now a commissioner who wants to change the state test without the legislation's approval. Using AI to give grading and changing the CCMAR criteria without giving teachers the adequate resources to teach the students.
Amber Bass "The state of accountability has not gotten better or worse. It is a driving force the reason as to why students and teachers are leaving the public system. We need a better system. We know our teachers are teaching every day. I feel like it would be a great idea to use our HEB award-winning money to help with this."
