Description:
The school board meeting is a meeting in the public, not a public meeting. Nicollet School Board Policy provides that persons who wish to have a subject discussed at a public school board meeting are encouraged to notify the superintendent’s office in advance of the school board meeting. The school board chair will recognize one speaker at a time and will rule out of order other speakers who are not recognized, violations of data privacy, or inappropriate comments.

7. SUBSTITUTE SALARY ADJUSTMENT
Description:
The superintendent recommends the school board approve a daily rate increase from $160 to $190. Last increase was met in October 2022. Rates went from $120 to $160. We are unable to build a list of eligible substitutes at our current rate. 15 days of the past school year required "filling in" from current staff due to limited substitute availability. We are very grateful for our three in-house substitutes. However, when we use in house subs we are limiting services to our students who require academic assistance. This increase will allow us to become competitive with area schools and build a data base of substitutes we can call upon.

8. HANDBOOK REVISIONS
Description:
The superintendent recommends approving the 2024-2025 Parent/Student Handbook. Robin will quickly run through simple editing changes and identify areas of significant changes for improvement in communication. Questions are welcomed. Strikethrough denotes proposed deletions and red is new or updated language. The proposed handbook is attached. |

9. BOARD POLICY 524 REVISED-1st READING
Description:
The school board directs the superintendent and school district administration to establish rules and procedures regarding student possession and use of cell phones in school. These rules and procedures should seek to minimize the impact of cell phones on student behavior, mental health, and academic attainment. These rules and procedures may be designed for specific school building, grade levels, or similar criteria. The proposed rules for K-8 and 9-12 are attached.
