Description:
The school board meeting is a meeting in the public, not a public meeting. Nicollet School Board Policy provides that persons who wish to have a subject discussed at a public school board meeting are encouraged to notify the superintendent’s office in advance of the school board meeting. The school board chair will recognize one speaker at a time and will rule out of order other speakers who are not recognized, violations of data privacy, or inappropriate comments.

5.a. Superintendent's Report
Description:
Legislative Information.
Nicollet High School began enforcing the mandatory MSHSL standards beginning with the spring activities. The standards were discussed with parents and students at the preseason sports meeting on March 7th. For example, a student who receives detention for a disciplinary infraction at school will also receive a MSHSL consequence resulting in a suspension from participation in activities. The number of COVID cases has declined to where we no longer notify parents that their student may have been exposed to COVID 19. Exposures may occur almost anywhere. Masking and testing continue to be optional at school. We will continue to offer COVID 19 testing for families and staff. Take home tests are available by contacting the school office. Masks are no longer required on Nicollet School Busses effective February 28. CDC will not enforce its order requiring masks on certain transportation conveyances against buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs. Although not required, the CDC continues to recommend masks for these transportation operators and passengers in some situations, based on the individual and community risk considerations in the above framework. Description:
MS 123B.02, Subd. 6 permits the school board to accept donations or gifts for the benefit of the district. The Superintendent recommends approving the donations received.

7. SUPERINTENDENT'S CONTRACT
Description:
The superintendent's contract expires June 30, 2022. This agenda item is a one-year contract which would expire June 30, 2023. The other terms of the contract are the same.

8. APPROVE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL
Description:
The superintendent recommends adjustments to the salary schedule, used for non-licensed employees without contracts. The salary is used as a guide for establishing the rate of pay for new hires. Employees on the schedule move up one step on July 1st of each year.
