III. WORK SESSION @ 4:45-5:45PM
Discussion:
The board members asked questions and had conversation with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and the school Principals about student achievement and what is being done to assist struggling students. There are several programs in place at each site to address those students that need more instruction. This is the first year that we have a testing tool that is for all grades which will assist in following the student as they move between grades. There has been more benchmark testing on a regular basis so teachers and track who has not learned the standard and ge them the reteaching they need.
Jeff Simon from Payson High School shared that based on recently compiled test scores and other factors, that if the state was awarding letter grades this year, PHS would have a "B". |

VIII.A. Information and Discussion Regarding COVID
Presenter:
Linda Gibson
Discussion:
Linda Gibson reported that there has been no change since the last board meeting on how the district handles COVID positive cases and close contacts. We are thrilled to have Jaclyn Shaw, our new social worker, who is handling the contacts and reporting that needs to be done for staff and student positives and close contacts. She reports to the Gila County Health Department. This has freed up quite a bit of time for those that were tracing this at all the sites.
The district is hosting a vaccine clinic on September 15th from 3-6pm in the high school dome. The county will have vaccines for people ages 12 and up. We will also host a second clinic for those who need the second shot. |
