October 23, 2015 at 4:00 PM - Superintendent's Weekly Update to the Board of Education

In last week's Friday letter, I requested board feedback and approval on purchasing a protective gym floor covering.  Today, I met with the Hillyard representatives to see and touch the product firsthand.  Others present in the south gym with us were Tony, Brent, Joel, and Chris.

I really do not like rushing a purchase like this, but if we commit to an order by Tuesday we can have it delivered and ready for the November 9th band concert.  As mentioned last week this protective floor covering would be used in both the south and new south gyms.

I realize this is a lot of money to spend.  It's important to know our new south gym will have all concerts and other similar events in there.  It comes down to how much we want to protect the floors from the usual scratches and dents caused by folding chairs, etc.

I will purchase the protective flooring unless I hear back from someone.  I will not place the order on Tuesday if even one board member questions or cannot support the purchase.  It's a lot of money and somewhat a catch 22.
