6.1. 2024-2025 Budget
Discussion:
Mr. McMurtry presented information about the budget for the 24-25 school year. Past expenditures were discussed and future expenditures were predicted. Salaries were detailed and Mr. McMurtry indicated that this takes up a majority of every school budget.
Mrs. Huffman asked about the special building fund. In particular, the ability to purchase surrounding properties to expand the school footprint if they are made available. Mr. McMurtry discussed how the special building fund levy has been depleted to offset rising general fund costs and keep the tax asking the same. Mr. McMurtry noted that the tax asking over the course of the last 7 years has been fiscally responsible. Mr. McMurtry stated that the depreciation fund was more of a focus as things will begin to break down and will need to be replaced. Having a solid foundation in the depreciation would be essential as roofs and busses will need to be replaced in the next 10 years. Mr. Meyer also said that rooftop units expire. He asked what the life of a unit is typically. Mr. Pagel said that you can expect around 15 years for the units. |
