7.3. School 10 passenger vans
Discussion:
Message from Dan Keyser to Schools:
Some of the schools, which I conduct the Annual ALICAP Review has had questions about 12 & 15 Passenger Vans. Attached below is a document from NDE stating their guidelines. If you are up-to-date with the regulations, you can stop reading. Currently, 12-15 passenger vans may not be used to transport students, even if seats have been removed. However, these vans could be used as a cargo van for Football equipment, Pole Vault poles, custodial use, etc. Just can not be used to transport students. It seems like sometime around 2006 the federal rule was changed, but Rule 92 evidently did not change with the federal law. Please call Megan Boldt or Sheri Shonka if you need more details. Their contact information is on the ALICAP website. Attachment provided by Mr. Keyser is included. Mr. Bauer shared his conversations and asked the board for guidance regarding this. Mr. Bauer also shared information with the board that he has collected from other schools. Discussion was had regarding small buses vs SUV's (i.e. no CDL required for either, passenger capacity, number of personnel required for trips, fuel and maintenance.). |
|
7.4. Storage Shed in Bladen
Discussion:
Mr. Drake would like to get a storage shed built on the backside of the gym by the dumpsters. We would need to pour some concrete there, which is something that probably should be done for the dumpsters regardless. While we were getting concrete, it would also be nice to pour some more in front of the concession building, extend it out to where the slab for the bleachers ends.
Is the board okay with Mr. Bauer looking for someone to take on this project or coordinate with some of our people to get this job completed. It seems our school facility has become a catch-all for supplies and materials that do not need to be stored inside the school. This project would come out of special building funds. Mr. Bauer just wants to make sure the board is on the same page prior to moving forward with this project. Board members discussed the logistics of making the shed a student project. Dimensions were also discussed. |

8. Action Items

8.1. Purchase 2024 Chevy Minotour 14 Passenger Activity Bus
Action(s):
No Action(s) have been added to this Agenda Item.
Discussion:
With the NDE designation on the "12 passenger" capacity wheel base vans, we are in need of something to get students to numerous activities.
After a great deal of searching, I found this 14 passenger (Non CDL required bus). Mr. Bauer shared more information regarding this situation. Details on the bus are attached. |
|
8.2. SUV Purchase for activity trips
Discussion:
After previous discussion, this agenda item was tabled.
|
|
8.3. Football Sound System
Action(s):
No Action(s) have been added to this Agenda Item.
Discussion:
As you know, the sound system at the football field finally stopped working this season. We have currently been "borrowing" a system from Luis.
We need to update the system. Luis has put together a bid for a system just a little better than the one we have been borrowing in the amount of $5,000. Cost breakdown is attached. |
|
9. Future Agenda Items
Discussion:
Next month's meeting agenda will include more information on the storage shed. Board members are to return completed evaluations to Mr. Lutkemeier prior to the November meeting. Negotiations team to meet 30 minutes prior to the next board meeting. The next regular Board of Education Meeting is set for Wednesday, Nov. 13th, 7 pm, at the High School in Roseland.
