6.2. Boone Central Recognitions
Discussion:
Knott- Administrative Team. We don’t see all that goes on, but it has been a good school year. Thank you to the Admin team for all that they do for our District. Roberts- The boys track team- first conference title they have ever won since Boone Central became a school. A great group of kids who have worked hard. Possibly 5 records being set this year! There are a lot of kids who have contributed and have played their part to make it happen! Frey- Shout out to Mrs. Thome on the Husker-themed Elementary spring concert. The kids were excited and had a lot of fun. Thank you for all your work Mrs. Thome. Stuhr- Mrs. Thome. Found a way to outdo herself again. Joel Sup for receiving the Golden Apple award. It was a great write-up. Fogleman- I think by May ALL staff deserve a shout out. Thanks to every single staff member; another successful year is coming to an end. I appreciate the dedication that all of you bring to Boone Central. Rolf- Dr. McDonald. It's been a smooth year. We appreciate all he has done. McDonald- I would like to extend my best wishes to all the graduating Seniors as they embark on their future endeavors. The dedication, time, and effort they have invested in their studies and activities at BCS deserve to be acknowledged. Graduation symbolizes the journey of life, providing an opportunity to reflect on all that has been learned while looking forward to the wisdom yet to come. Completing high school is a significant milestone in a young person’s life, marking a moment of achievement, contemplation, and excitement for what lies ahead. Larsen- Ms. Kris Pestel. As she looks to finish out her career as a full-time teacher at Boone Central Schools, I would like to recognize Ms. Kris Pestel. She has spent 35 years serving our school and community as a teacher and a coach. I have appreciated getting to work with her. She is the definition of a professional at what she does. We are going to miss her but wish her the best as she starts her retirement. Mr. Vandenberg is also leaving our district as he advances to take a similar position at Columbus Lakeview. Boone Central has benefited from the time he has spent serving our district as a teacher and a coach. We want to wish him well as he takes on his new adventure. Curry- I would like to recognize two teachers who will not be returning next year. Mr. Volker is leaving some big shoes to fill. He joined Boone Central in 2012. He builds great relationships and student rapport. Our Science test scores are always among the best in the state! He is a leader on our PBIS team! On a personal note, not only is Mr. Volker a great teacher, but he was also one of Luke’s favorite coaches. He believed in Luke while others were playing ahead of him, encouraging him to keep grinding. Mrs. Volker has been a valuable asset for the past two years. She is a master teacher who has found different ways to help students understand the concepts. She, too, has taken on a leadership role serving as our 504 Coordinator. When we needed someone to facilitate/teach college algebra and calculus, she stepped up and did a great job. Her willingness to coach JH sports has been greatly appreciated as well. We are going to miss those two! Kayton- I want to recognize and thank Mrs. Barb Foland. Of her 39 years of teaching, she has dedicated 31 of those years to our Albion/Boone Central students. While at Boone Central, she started as a Special Education teacher before moving to first grade! Mrs. Foland is a master teacher who has impacted the lives of hundreds of kids. Mrs. Foland’s ability to dive into data and make academic decisions that best serve students is recognized in her testing results! We wish you the best in your future endeavors. Perone- Ms. Pestel- there are things that need to be done around the building that people don’t always want to do but she always steps in! Last year she stepped in to around 58 events to help out. When people would say no, she always said yes! I appreciate what she has done for us and the kids in lots of roles. |

6.3. Continuous School Improvement
Discussion:
At our April 17th professional development day, all staff completed a data dig led by ESU 7. Throughout this session, we looked at and analyzed the results from our Perceptual Surveys that were given. As we looked at the results, we were reminded that we have some great things going on within our building! We challenged ourselves to improve these scores in the next two years before we give the survey again! There is always room for growth and our staff continue to strive to be better.

6.6. Principal & AD Reports
Discussion:
Larsen- Career Academy Showcase was on Wednesday, April 30tt. Area businesses participated in the Career Fair (23). Mock interviews in partnership with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. Juniors and Seniors had either a Bingo card or Scavenger hunt designed to help them interact with the businesses in the gym. Career Academy Showcase was in the afternoon (20 completors). Senior’s Last Day: May 9, 2025, graduation is May 18th (Sunday) at 2:00PM. PE/Strength & Conditioning, we are going to pause and work to fill this position next year, we will utilize the resources we have to creatively cover classes. The timing was hard, we will re-open this position next year in a more ideal window of time to fill this vacancy. Crusin’ Cards Trip at the end of the month, they are off to Southern Europe.
Curry- The Spring Concert is Wednesday at 2:00pm, an 8th grade tribute with a slide show recognition will be held at the conclusion of the conference. Thursday is the Unification Drill, we will evacuate to the fitness center, walk to the church and take attendance. We will also practice the logistics of the processes with a smaller group of students, connect the parent with their kid(s) and figure out the logistics. For the smaller group, the students will be bused to the fairgrounds and willgo through a more in depth process in order to practice on a larger scale. The curriculum has arrived, a training session will take place in June to help support the teachers who will be teaching the new curriculum. Kayton- We have completed spring testing. I was very impressed with and proud of our scores! One big change we made to the elementary master schedule this year was a 30 minute math WIN time for K-4th grade. During this time, students have the opportunity to receive what they need during additional and individualized instruction. Students who received math intervention during this time showed an average growth of 22.4 points from fall to spring testing! Last year we recognized 30 students who ended in the top 90% nationwide in reading or math MAPs testing. At our last Rockin’ Rally, I will get to recognize 70 that scored in the top 90% nationally! The Elementary Program was a huge success! Students performed very well and community support was as strong as ever. It was very fun to see the excitement in the students throughout the program, and the day leading up to it. A big thank you to Mrs. Thome and all of her hard work! As Mrs. Gonzalez mentioned, we are going to be piloting intro to Spanish at the 3rd and 4th grade level. Mrs. Gonzalez will be in each 3rd and 4th grade classroom two times a week for approximately 20 minutes. During this time, she will be teaching a mini lesson. At this young age, their brains are little sponges! We are excited for this opportunity! We are wrapping up the school year with a lot of fun activities! This week we will watch the movie that goes along with our One School One Book- Flora and Ulysses! This has been a fun project over the last month! Friday is Preschool Graduation! It will begin at 10:00am! Next Monday we are hosting our Track and Field Day! It will bring out the kiddos competitive spirit! We will have two sessions. Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be at the track from 9:00-11:00. Third and Fourth Grade will be at the track from 1:00-3:00. Along with these events, we are wrapping up the school year with field trips, classroom AR parties, Talent shows and much more! Class lists and supply lists are common questions we get from parents. Supply lists will be sent home with students with their end of the year report cards. In June, students will receive a postcard announcing their teacher for next school year! Perone - The activity fund accounts are in a much better spot. We are working on clearing up all the accounts by the end of the school year, in time for the fiscal audit. Thank you to the BC Club leadership team and the seniors, who have phenomenal leadership, they set the tone and culture. The track meets that we run the timing systems for, the coaching staff have jumped in and we have been successful in running these meets. It takes a lot of people to do this and we would not be able to do it without the help of those who step up to help. |
