SCHUYLER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION MEETING 07/07/2014 @ 12 NOON – 1:00 P.M. @ SCHUYLER CHAMBER OFFICE Membership: Lumir Jedlicka-Treasurer, Brian Vavricek- President, Virginia Semerad, Joyce Baumert, Sandy Seckman- Vice President, Victor Lopez, and Dan Hoesing Guests - Lora Johnson – Chamber Executive Director -Kem Cavanah – Economic Development Coordinator -Shelley Friesz – sfriesz@esu7.org – 402-352-3527 Ext 216 – Foundation Assistant -Sheri Balak – sheribalak@gmail.com – Alumni Honors consultant Vision: To support the enrichment of educational programs and student life experiences Goals: -To promote education in Schuyler Community Schools -Additional giving of $100,000 by August 31st, 2014 -Conduct feasibility study on possible new construction at high school building Secretary Report/Minutes – Review and Approve (refer minutes e-mailed by Shelley Friesz – June 2, 2014) Treasurer’s Report – unofficial total balance $115,037 · Received a $25 Memorial for Darryl Gless from Sheri Balak · Received a $100 Memorial for Darryl Gless from Pamela Warnock · Received a $10.50 check from Kem Cavanah for his DA lunch · Received a $250.00 check from ICF Business Operations center (received the ck for the SCHS participation in a National CDC study on Feb. 11, 2014) · Paid a $344.05 bill form Awards Unlimited for the DA lettering · Sent a check to Kylie Brabec for $1,000 for Distinguished Scholarship Committee Reports:
· Performing Arts Center- Sandy, Joyce and Virginia Next Meeting –August 4, 2014 @ 12:00 Noon @ the Schuyler Chamber Office Minutes from the July 7, 2014 Foundation meeting at the Schuyler Chamber office Members Present: Brian, Sandy, Joyce & Victor Others Present: Lora, Kem, Sheri & Shelley Members Absent: Dan, Virginia and Lumir Brian called the meeting to order at 12:10 pm Vision & Goals were read by Brian Treasurer’s Report were read · Shelley will contact the paper and see about getting the memorial listed in the paper and talk to Dan about getting on the alumni website Committee Reports: Labor Day- Brian & Victor · Have the The Bricksband band booked for the alumni dance · Will also have a Latino band but not sure which one right now · Brian has talked to Sandy Born in regards to two bands and it will work · Sandy was concerned about allowing minors in the dance but assured they have the last couple years · Will talk about hiring security at the dance will consider hiring and possibly off duty police officers Brian will talk to police officers · The time will remain 9 pm-1 am · Work schedule will be made up by Brian and sent out to members · No basketball tournament will be held this year Scholarships- nothing new to report Education- nothing new to report Alumni Website- Dan · Dan did meet with Micheal Dornemen and we do have a webmaster hired at the school Alumni Honors Committee- Joyce & Sheri · Wondered if the lettering and plaques have been hung in the commons area Performing Arts Center- nothing new to report Meeting adjourned by Brian at 12:54 pm Next meeting will be August 4, 2014 @ noon at the Schuyler High School- location to be determined
