Discuss, Consider, and Take All Necessary Action Regarding Investment of Funds in the Employee Benefit Fund, the Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund, and the Depreciation Fund
Rationale:
This may be a good time to consider investing a portion of fund balances in either CDs at Nebraska Bank or with the Nebraska Liquid Asset Fund.
Here is some information we received from Nebraska Bank: I would be willing to push the 3 mo up 10 basis points to a 4% APY and 6 month up the same 0.10% to 3.90% I know that doesn’t quite get to a match state, but I would recommend taking into consideration how future rate changes may impact earnings on the liquid asset fund as I believe this can change with short term rates. As we sit today, the market has a 91.8% probability of a 0.25% cut on 9/17, a 70.8% chance of another 0.25% cut on 10/29, and a 64% chance of another 0.25% cut on 12/10. New economic data may change this outlook but it certainly looks like we are heading for additional downward rate pressure through the end of the year.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion by Board Member #1 Invest $___ of the Deprecitation Fund with ____ for __ months and $___ in the Employee Benefit Fund with ____ for __ months. Seconded by Board Member #2 Motion carried. |
