4.1. Minutes of May 12, 2025 Regular Meeting

Rationale: Section 79-805 of Nebraska Statutes calls for the District to publish in a legal newspaper a "concise summary" of the proceedings of the Board of Education. Section 84-1413 of Nebraska Revised Statutes calls for the District to maintain official minutes that contain "the substance of all matters discussed." Therefore, for each board meeting a concise summary of the minutes is published in the Auburn Newspapers and a detailed set of minutes is maintained in the superintendent’s office. A copy of the official minutes is attached to the board agenda for each regular meeting and special meeting.

The official minutes may make references to attachments. These attachments are reproduced with the minutes attached to the board agenda only if such attachments are different from those presented at the meeting. The attachments, however, are in the record of official minutes maintained at the superintendent’s office.

Rationale: The Board President may limit the time allotted to each individual or topic. A five-minute limit will apply for each speaker, unless otherwise specified, and no speaker may transfer their remaining time to any other speaker. According to Nebraska State Statute 84-1412, all speakers must identify himself or herself, including an address and the name of any organization represented by such person, unless the address requirement is waived to protect the security of the individual. Speakers are expected to address the Board when making presentations. If a group of patrons is presenting a single issue, the board requests that a spokesperson be appointed to address the Board, however, anyone may talk within the stated time limit. Speakers who feel a need to give more information than can be presented in that time frame may submit written materials for distribution to the Superintendent; such materials should be provided at least 24 hours before the meeting is to begin.
The Board of Education may make and enforce reasonable rules and regulations regarding the conduct of persons attending its meetings and regarding their privilege to speak.

Discussion: *Completed the CLSD (Comprehensive Literacy State Development) grant. We completed the grant for birth to age 5 and Kindergarten through 5^th grade. We will find out in Aug. if we will be a recipient of this grant.
*I’ve been working with some teachers on their assessments. Looking at the purpose and if they align to state standards. We’ve had some really great conversations involving this.
*I have been working on developing our dual credit programs a little more. Our Intro to Education class will be a dual credit course offered this year, and hopefully we will be able to offer more dual credit courses in the 26-27 school year.

We can project improvement in attendance from previous school years.

  - Decreased chronic absenteeism rates projected
Assessment data shows students are performing at a high level. Thank you to our students, staff, and families!!
Overall, student conduct continues to move in the right direction. We will continue to invest in this area, based on the many positive influences on school climate and culture.
With grades finalized and entered for 2024-25
- Counselors were able to conduct a clear audit of the Class of 2026.
  - Prioritize needs
- The same process was replicated for Sophomores and Juniors to be.
- Returning high school students (Sophomores - Seniors)
  - 89% are mathematically on pace to graduate
  - Another 3% are very close, and likely to be fine with minimal monitoring and intervention.
  - 8% of returning high school students are further behind.
- Of the students that are off the mathematical pace to graduate with their cohort on time:
  - 82% of these students have moderate to severe attendance concerns that impede their progress.
  - We will continue to establish supports and interventions to assist these students.
FBLA at the National Convention June 29 - July 2. Representation from over a dozen AHS students.
Middle School Dance
- Major success
- 120+ students in attendance
- Positive celebration with excellent feedback

Auburn sent four students to NIETOC in Kansas City in May.
- Cuyler Aue & Gate Gerking finished in 54th place.
- Nora & Solomon Jacobitz were quarterfinalists, finishing in 24th place.
Auburn had five athletes compete at the State Track & Field Championships in Omaha in May.
- They were Liston Crotty, Addison Darnell, Addison Henry, Logan Rowell, and Alivia Thomas.
- Congratulations to Addison Darnell on winning the Class B 300m Hurdles and setting a new Class B State Meet Record with her winning time and for finishing second in the 100m hurdles.
- Congratulations to Logan Rowell who earned a medal in the Class B Discus as he finished in 6th Place.

The summer is off to a strong start. Our coaches have put together a summer schedule which gives our athletes a chance to improve themselves. We have had good numbers for camps and other workouts so far. Additionally, we have had a strong turnout in the weight room so far this summer. It is fun to see so many of our athletes committing themselves to improving.
Finally, the ECNC Conference met in May and all schools decided to transition away from rSchoolToday, which was bought by Arbiter, and move to Bound for their scheduling platform / activity calendar. This will be something that I will be working on throughout the summer. More to come!
