July 20, 2026 at 5:00 PM - District Safety Committee Meeting

I. Call to Order

II. If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Section 551, Subchapters D & E or Texas Government Code section 418.183(f). Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section(s) of the Act authorizing the closed meeting. Discussion will be limited to only items listed on the agenda. All final votes, action, or decisions will be taken in open meeting.

IV. Discuss findings of TEA Intruder Detection Audit: All campus audits completed by TEA for the 2025-2026 school year. As a result of the audits, no Findings/Flags were observed and no Corrective Action Required.

V. Provide information to committee regarding the weekly audits of campus building
access per board policy CSA(Local) and TEC 37.109.

VI. Provide notice to committee that requests have been made to members of the Bridge City Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office to continue making walk through checks of each campus to increase law enforcement presence.

VII. Notification to committee that school district police along with other local law
enforcement, fire departments, and ambulance personnel attended ALERRT Active
Attack Integrated Response Course, first responder training on the High School Campus.

VIII. The TEA required Safe and Supportive School Program (SSSP) reporting is now open and being completed by each campus principal.  Reporting window closes on July 31, 2026.

IX. Discuss Psychological First Aid Training and ask for certificates of completion to be
forwarded to chair. TEC 37.108(f)(6)(C)(i).

X. District Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) currently being updated. This year the Texas School Safety Center is requiring districts to update, complete and submit both the Basic Plan and Reunification for Schools Annex. Submissions required to the TSSC by October 1, 2026.

XI. Committee Meeting Dates for the 2026-2027 School Year are tentatively scheduled as: 
a. October 19, 2026
b. February 15, 2027
c. June 21, 2027
(NOTE: All meetings are scheduled to be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Bridge City ISD Administrative Building.)
