Rationale:
The Lincoln Board of Education is committed to providing the highest quality education for all students in Lincoln Public Schools. The Board sees the primary mission of the schools to be the development of responsible adults:
As the elected governing body of the School District, the Board believes in sharing its decision-making processes with parents, students, other citizens and staff members. Board Members are elected by district to four year terms and serve without pay. |

BACKGROUND:
At each meeting, the Board of Education is asked to approve certain items of routine business of the School District. EXPLANATION: The items included in routine business for this meeting are: a. REGULAR CLAIMS- Claims for the periods ending September 13, 2011, were previously provided. Federal Tax ACH Deposit of $4,663,899.66. Procurement Card ACH Transfer of $123,744.35. Office Depot ACH Transfer of $42,442.39. Vendor ACH Transfer of $11,881.06. b. PAYROLL FOR RATIFICATION- Payroll for the periods ending August 31 and September 6, 2011, in the amount of $13,198,526.38. c. GIFTS - Approval for the gifts listed on the attached gift report. d. BIDS/CONTRACTS - Bids will be presented for approval for world language textbooks for use at all secondary schools; Brailing supplies and equipment; scanner equipment; time clocks; Apple computers and mobility carts for Goodrich Middle School; music equipment and supplies; demolition and disposal of interior of Lincoln High boiler building; supplementary support of the Chinese Language and Culture Teaching program; travel services for Northeast High School students; taxicab services for the homeless youth of Lincoln; early termination of a cellular lease agreement with Verizon; agreements for education services with Beatrice Public Schools, Columbus Public Schools, Dorchester Public Schools, Millard Public Schools, Norfolk Public Schools, Palmyra District 0 R 1, Ralston Public Schools, St. Paul Public Schools, and Stanton Community Schools; and any other bids and contracts as presented. Rationale:
*The Lincoln Board of Education is empowered to act on any item listed on the Agenda at any time during the meeting, irrespective of the time or order listed. Pages listed, or further detail, are available upon request. The Open Meetings Act requires and the intention of the Board is that agenda items be sufficiently descriptive to give the public reasonable notice of the matters to be considered at the meeting. The Lincoln Board of Education Board releases its agenda well in advance of most meetings and desires that all interested persons are fully informed. Any interested person who has a question or needs clarification about the sufficiency of a descriptive item should contact the Office of the Superintendent of Schools.
