1. Call Meeting to Order for October 22, 2007.

2. Time for Citizens. In the event that a quorum of the Board is not present to open the meeting, the Monday session shall thereby be cancelled after a reasonable time in the opinion of the Board members present or, if there is no Board member present, the Superintendent or designee, and agenda items II through III shall be moved to Tuesday, October 23, 2007, immediately following Section V on the Agenda.

3. Motion to go into Closed Session.
Description:
If the Board votes to go into closed session, then such closed session shall be held pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, the expected specific sections of which are listed herein below; however, the Board may also go into closed session on any agenda item listed in either or both sessions as may be authorized by law, whether or not specified in this Section of the Agenda. The following subjects are expected to be brought up in closed session:

[Section 551.071, Government Code - Consultation with Attorney:] For a private consultation with the Board’s attorney with respect to pending or contemplated litigation or settlement offers, and/or on matters where the attorney’s duty to the Board, under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas, clearly conflicts with the open government provisions of Chapter 551 of the Government Code, to wit:

10.A. Approval of proposed agreement with Positive Beginnings, Inc. After School Program for the 2007-2008 school year at Coronado-Escobar, H.B. Gonzalez, Las Palmas, Loma Park, Perales, Roosevelt, and Stafford Elementary.

10.B. Approval to enter into a contract with Brooks Aerospace Foundation, Inc. to have Edgewood ISD sixth grade students participate in the Challenger Learning Center of San Antonio's Space Mission Simulation Program for a total of $1,800.00 funded by Title I.

10.C. Approval to collaborate with Camerata San Antonio to hold two community concerts at the Edgewood Academy and to have musicians mentor orchestra students at the Academy, teach master classes and perform for students.

10.D. Approval to renew the Collaboration Agreement between Edgewood ISD and the Rape Crisis Center for Children and Adults to provide awareness and preventive programs to Elementary, Middle and High School students and parents for the 2007-2008 school year; and to exercise referrals to the Rape Crisis Center and to other health agencies, subject to the requirements of Texas Education Code Section 38.010.

10.E. Approval of promotions, transfers, new hires, resignations, retirements and re-assignments for professional contract personnel where Board Action is required. [Note: Board action on this item, if any, is limited to those personnel items that require Board action; otherwise, the item is for information only, whether or not the Board approves a motion to approve this item; and, in any event, the Board does not approve transfers, resignations previously approved by the
Superintendent, retirements and reassignments.]

10.F. Approval to extension of professional service contract with Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc., for professional services in the investigation, claims adjustment and settlement of workers' compensation claims, via Addendum to Administrative Service Agreement with CMI Barron Risk Management.

10.G. Approval of contract for teacher orientation and preparation program between Education Service Center, Region 20 and Edgewood ISD in the amount of $30,000 from general fund.
