Description:
Background: Leakey ISD was originally designated as a District of Innovation on [June 2023 Board Meeting Date], with a plan term of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028. Pursuant to TEC §12A.007 and 19 TAC §102.1313, the Board of Trustees may amend an active DOI plan at any time during the plan's term. The amended plan has been reviewed by the District Site-Based Decision Making Committee and reflects updated exemptions and provisions to better serve the current needs of Leakey ISD students, staff, and community. Exemptions Addressed in the Amended Plan: Teacher Certification (TEC §21.003), Probationary Contracts (TEC §21.102), Inter-District Transfers (TEC §25.036), Class Size Ratio and Notification (TEC §25.112-113), Site-Based Decision Making/SHAC (TEC §11.251, §28.004), Long-Range Energy Plan (TEC §44.902), School Calendar/Start Date (TEC §25.0811), Teacher Contract Days (TEC §21.401), Grievance Policy (TEC §26A), Required Disclosure of Instructional Plans (TEC §26.0062), School Counselor Duties (TEC §33.006), Facility Usage Report (TEC §7.0611), Parent Conference/Notice Requirements (TEC §28.022), and GPA Calculation (TEC §28.0252). Required Post-Adoption Action: Per TEC §12A.0071(b) and 19 TAC §102.1307(g), within 15 days of adoption the district must post the final amended plan on the district website and notify the Commissioner of Education at accred@tea.texas.gov with a link to the plan and the updated exemptions checklist. Recommended Motion: "I move to approve the amendments to the Leakey ISD District of Innovation Plan as presented, and authorize the Superintendent to provide timely notice to the Commissioner of Education in accordance with applicable law." |
