V.D.2. Consider Approval of a Resolution to Establish Nonbusiness Days for Public Information Act Compliance
Description:
House Bill 3033, adopted by the 88th Texas Legislature, revised the Texas Public Information Act by authorizing school districts to designate up to ten (10) additional nonbusiness days per school year.
These designations ensure that deadlines for responding to public information requests are calculated correctly when the District is closed or operating with minimal administrative staffing. On December 9, 2024, the Board approved the District’s nonbusiness days for the 2025 calendar year, which included November 26, 2025; December 23, 2025; and December 29-30, 2025, all of which fall within the 2025-2026 school year. To align nonbusiness-day designations with the academic calendar and current legislative guidance, administration recommends designating the additional nonbusiness days for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year: January 2, 2026, and March 9-11, 2026. These days, together with the four (4) nonbusiness days previously designated for November- December 2025, shall not exceed the statutory limit of ten (10) nonbusiness days for the 2025-2026 school year, as permitted by Texas Government Code §552.0031. |
