Description:
December Jake Ruger, Newport Middle Jake and I started at Newport Middle School at the same time 3 years ago. His dedication to the craft and his students is unwavering. Additionally, he's a coach and mentor to NMS's boys football team, where he has grown the football program while holding high academic and behavioral standards for his players. We are lucky to have him! Leeann Bennett/Sadie Blanchette, Future Bound West, Alternative Education See Newsletter (Pic 1) Chris Martin, Newport Middle Chris goes out of his way to provide hands-on activities for his students and even for students who are not in his class. Recently, he organized a field trip to the Siletz tribal garden where students helped plant things, create seed packets, and perform other chores that helped in the gardens. He voluntarily took some of the Future Bound students as well even though the Future Bound adults could not be there. (Pic 2) Jaclyn Moats, Sam Case She has made December so fun for her kids and she included the SLC as well. We got invited to participate in Grinch Day Science project and it was AMAZING!!!!! (Pic 3) Babs Johncox, Sam Case This shout out goes to Babs Johncox for being such a knowledgeable and helpful co-teacher. She is positive, professional, and flexible. Thanks for being a great asset to our ELD team at Sam Case! Lori Miller, Sam Case (THREE shout outs!) This educator has so much knowledge and experience in teaching and is a true asset to our school. She is always willing to help anyone, student or staff, and gives her time, advice, energy and resources freely at our school. We are so lucky to have her! Lori is loved by her students, and her classroom vibe shows it. The classroom is quiet when it should be, and if there are behavior problems they aren't obvious. She has excellent classroom control. Students are respectful, on task, and have fun in her class. Other teachers can learn a lot from this wise one and I hope she decides to stay teaching. Her experience is invaluable, and I am happy she will receive the acknowledgement she deserves from the Board! Thank you! Lori is an inspirational teacher at Sam Case. She leads her class by example. Lori shares life experiences with them and builds strong bonds in her classroom. She teaches her students that making mistakes is an important part of life and that learning from them is invaluable. Lori is a leader who supports staff with fierce love and appreciation. Lori has many teaching years under her belt and passes down her knowledge to all who approach her. Lori always knows how to give back and cheer us up. She decorates our spaces with beautiful plants and brings in treats to show her love for us. She is someone I truly respect and admire. I know as long as she is here, she will have my back without judgement. I feel lucky to have built a professional relationship and personal friendship that will be life long. Lori, Thank you for being you. Everything. She is a dynamic angel who drives rigorous instruction and is always the first to support her colleagues in any way. She has devoted her life to education and in my opinion, in her last years has provided probably her best version of a teacher while holding students to the highest academic expectations. Mike Pearce, Sam Case Mike is a special kind of teacher, and has his own unique way with engaging and motivating students. Everyday you can hear him acknowledge students in an affirming way, always saying directly to students that they are "awesome", and when talking about ANY of his students to staff he includes they are "awesome," You see, Mike sees, acknowledges and shares joyously the good in students! He works hard to create a learning community in his classroom, and therefore, his room is calm and on task. There are students who do the typical blurt-outs and attempts at distraction, but I've seen Mike's toolbox of remedies for this, and it's an impressive box! Mike loves students, and it shows, and Sam Case is lucky to have a teacher who is so dedicated to the students. Taylor Olson, Sam Case Mr. Olson is an amazing teacher. He works very hard for every student on his caseload. Taylor cares about his students and he meets the special need of each special child. I feel very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with him. Thank you, Taylor for your love of children. Karole Pickett, Sam Case Ms. Picket is an amazing teacher who show respect to all she comes in contact with. She builds strong relationships with student and colleagues. Karole is very focused on meeting the needs of all her students. She cares about her student's well-being, both academic, as wellas, social/emotional. Ms. Picket is a role model. Barbara Johncox and Liz Salerno, Sam Case Both Ms. Johncox and Ms. Salerno are a great team. They care about all of our ELD students and their needs. Both of these individuals care about their students and their families. They are great about communicating with staff and families. They correlate the writing lessons to what is happening in the fifth grade classrooms. I really enjoy working with these wonderful ladies. |
