Description:
Lincoln County School District hired 77 certified staff so far for the 2022-2023 school year. They engaged in 3 days of induction activities before school started, spent time in their buildings, and participated in social events to acclimate to our District.
LCSD received a $350,000 Grow Your Own Grant from the Oregon Department of Education to develop our own classified staff into degree attainment and potential licensure. This is the third successful grant application for the District; the past two years the amount was $100,000 each year. HB 4030 provided LCSD with $667,000 in recruitment and retention funds aimed at developing our existing staff with additional endorsement and professional development opportunities. It is also aimed at supporting beginning teachers with their onboarding into the profession. LCSD has used a portion of the funds as retention bonuses for Special Educaiton staff, bilingual staff, and those specifically working in the North area--all hard to fill positions and locations.
