9.2.a. Barnes Foundation Grants
Rationale:
The Bristol Board of Education received a $6,500 grant from the Barnes Foundation for the WOW Bookmobile summer program and to update the guiding reading library at Mountain View School. |

9.2.b. Grants from the Bristol Education Foundation
Rationale:
The educational staff of the Bristol Public School system received 23 mini-grants from the Bristol Education Foundation totaling $14,978. 52 grants were submitted so it was a very competitive process. Also, the Bristol Education Foundation through a request initiated by Sarah Brown from Chippens Hill awarded the Bristol Public Schools a grant for $6,300 to purchase 30 new robotics kits to replace the obsolete ones to support the technology curriculum and middle schools’ robotics teams.

9.2.d. Bilingual Education Grant Award
Rationale:
The Bilingual Education Grant is submitted for approval. This grant award is in the amount of $13,953 and will be used to offset the cost of educating Bilingual students in Bristol. This year – five schools have 20 or more identified EL students of the same dominant language (Spanish) – Bristol Central, Bristol Eastern, Hubbell,West Bristol and Green-Hills.

9.2.e. Title III Part A English Language Acquisition Grant
Rationale:
The Title III EL Grant is submitted for approval. This Grant Award is in the amount of $54,304 and will be used to offset the cost of educating English Learners in Bristol. The majority of these funds will go towards the cost of providing EL tutoring services students in the 12 Bristol schools. |

Rationale:
This grant is for the FRC at GH and will permit the FRC to continue services to fulfill our mission to provide collaborative, integrated and comprehensive services that strengthen families, promote the optimal development of children, and create strong school-family-community partnerships. GH FRC will implement seven components of service including preschool Play & Learn Groups/school readiness programming, support before/after-school care programs in the schools, Parents As Teachers home visiting program, home daycare provider training/support, adult education/parent education and support, positive youth development and resource & referral services. This grant request covers two years if approved (2015-2017), however, budgets are approved on a yearly basis. The budget was decreased from 109,500 to $103,000.
