6.2.a. Bilingual Grant & Title III Grant
Rationale:
The Bilingual Grant & Title III Grant monies supplement the ELL District budget to provide support to our English Language Learners. Three schools – South Side, Chippens Hill, & Bristol Central – have been designated bilingual due to at least 20 or more students whose dominant language is Spanish. Our bilingual grant is for $8,052 and will be used to buy a smartboard/projector at South Side, and the Title III grant is for $39,544, which will supplement tutor and translation services for our ELLs. |
6.2.b. Continuing Grant from the United Way of West Central Connecticut (KIM)
Rationale:
The United Way has continued funding $15,000 for half of the Coordinator salary of the “Kids in the Middle” program at Chippens Hill Middle School. The remainder of this salary is paid through another grant. This program engages students in volunteer activities throughout the school and our community.

6.2.c. School Readiness Grant
Rationale:
1) To significantly increase the number of accredited and/or approved spaces for young children in order to provide greater access to high-quality preschool programs: 2) To significantly increase the number of spaces for young children to receive full day/part day child care services to meet family needs and to enable parents to become employed; and to establish a shared cost for such early care and education programs among the state and its various agencies, the communities, and families. |

8.1. 2013 Board of Education Meeting Schedule
Rationale:
In accordance with Section 1-21 of the Connecticut General Statutes and in keeping with Board of Education policy, a schedule of Board of Education meeting dates for the 2012 calendar year is required by the Town and City Clerk. Board of Education meetings will be held the first Wednesday of every month* at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Board of Education Administration Building, 129 Church Street Bristol, Connecticut. *except July, August and September
