Rationale:  As requested, this is the first annual presentation on enrollment, class size and impact on the 2022-2023 budget.  

Rationale:  This action is required by State Statute and needs to be posted with the Town Clerk no later than December 31st.  Dates can be changed at later dates to meet the requirements of the business of the Board.

Rationale: 

The Board Chair will speak to the Board regarding the 2022 Standing Committees.

Rationale:  The success of our school system depends on an effective working relationship between the Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools.  This code incorporates those standards and responsibilities most critical to productive Board and Superintendent relations.  Board members will sign the Code of Ethics for 2022.

Rationale:  Athletics: 
Julia Herbert was named All Conference and All State Honors for swimming in the 200 and 400.

Monthly Data  -  We include in the BOE agenda the monthly data as requested by the BOE.  

Rationale: 

• We are bringing forward the Geometry curriculum for approval.

  • Geometry is the third course in our core BHS Math curriculum.  It includes the study of constructions, rigid transformations, congruence, similarity, right triangle trigonometry, solid geometry, coordinate geometry, circles and trigonometric functions.

  • Illustrative Mathematics is the core instructional resource we use.

Rationale: 

• We are also bringing forward the Integrated Math II curriculum for approval.

  • Integrated Math II is an applied math course designed to meet the needs of students who need more time and practice to master high school mathematical standards.  Units of study include geometry and measurement, functions, linear functions, linear equations, linear systems and descriptive statistics.

Rationale:  This policy, the Citizens Advisory Committee, is part of our general policy overview of the 1000 series.  There are no suggested changes to the policy, but the Board may want to review the parameters for the implementation of the policy.

Rationale:  This regulation provides guidelines on the criteria for committee appointments and procedures for the establishment of the Advisory Committees.  Again, there are no recommended changes, but the BOE should discuss the implementation of the policies.

Rationale:  This policy was reviewed as part of the 1000 series.  As tobacco devices change, the only suggestion was to eliminate all of the examples and make a general statement about electronic cigarettes.   

Policy 1331 Smoking in School Facilities

Rationale:  This policy was reviewed as part of the 1000 series.  There were no recommended changes.  

Policy 1411 Law Enforcement Agencies

Rationale:  This policy is recommended to be revised by our attorneys at Shipman and Goodwin with the changes in cannabis laws at the state level.   It is recommended elimination of the old policy and use of the model policy.   There was limited change to the regulation, which provides guidance regarding violations of policies by employees.
