Consider action to authorize the RCISD Board Committee to execute a 100-year mural and contract a professional artist not to exceed $20,000 dollars.
Description:
Mr. Alford has investigated, researched, and communicated with a professional artist to draw a large mural on the wall in the event center. The mural would be located in the fourier by the concession stand. The mural would depict 100 years of RCISD. Through the research of several individuals, the idea is for the mural to provide a historical story via the RCISD mascots. The iconic cotton gin would be in the mural. The mural will be at a cost of $13K-$20K more or less. RCISD would pay for the mural. The aim for the mural is to be a symbol of pride for our citizens that can relate to their roots.
