Consider action to approve ordering a new bus in the 2023-24 budget year - approximately $150,000
Description:
RCISD budgeted $70,000 for a used school bus in the 2022-23 fiscal year. Upon looking for a bus, RCISD was unable to find a suitable used bus. The used buses found are not worthwhile, according to J. Moses, RCISD Transportation Director. I recommend we not purchase a used school bus during the 2022-23 school year.
I recommend we order a new one. The price of a new Blue Bird 71-passenger school bus is approximately $150,000. If RCISD orders the bus by 12-1-22, we lock in today's price and aim to receive the bus mid to late summer. The bus will take 8-10 months for delivery; just in time for the start of the 2023-24 school year. |
