4. Opportunity for Audience
Description:
Any citizen who would like to address the Board will be able to do so as the item on the regular agenda. Comments will be limited to 2 minutes per subject. If further time is needed, concerns should be addressed to the Superintendent. Personnel matters will not be discussed in a public meeting. Items that appear under the heading Routine and Regular Business will not be discussed or comments taken unless it is requested that they be removed from that category and placed on the regular agenda. Action on Routine and Regular Business will be acted upon with one motion and one vote. |

Discussion:
1) Recognizing students - the art will be hung in the Board Room after renovation is complete. 2) Saying goodbye to two important Board members. Both brought tremendous passion for students in the community to the Board. Thankless job, but executed it beautifully. 3) Attendance Winners - This month's winners and 2 schools that improved overall. Best Attendance and Most Improved Elementary - Monterrey Elementary! Best Attendance for the Month and Most Improved Secondary School - PR Leyva. 4) Construction Update - Installing Bridge over at Ocotillo Irrigation system. Monterrey's construction on track and scheduled to be completed by March 2024. Anticipate students returning to Monterrey for the* 24-24 SY. Field House is on schedule - August 2024 (hoping June 2024). Performing Arts -Feb. 2025 (Maybe December 2024). Expect RFP for Sunset Construction in February. Expect a replacement for AV in February. The City of Carlsbad received COPS program. Hoping to hire 5 SRO's.(to board in January). The County awarded the District $200,000 to be used over the next 4 years for any Safety Item. Ballistic film on all schools. Audit nearing completion. Scheduling 2 separate exit conferences in January (first week). NM Vistas Scores - School report card issued by the State of NM. Necessary to receive federal funding. Indicators are: Reading Proficiency, Math Proficiency, Reading Improvement, Math Improvement, English Learner Progress, Science Proficiency, Regular Attendance, College and Career Readiness, Four-year graduation rate, growth in four-year graduation rate, six-year graduation rate.

Discussion:
Resolution in support NM School Superintendent's rule hearing that is forthcoming. Will impact a 4 day a week schools. As a 5 day District it would only impact our District by 2 additional days. This needs to be a local control.

It has been an honor to serve Carlsbad and this group. Was put in place for a reason. It has been a privledge.
Thank you for your service as per Tiffany Lewis - It was fun and also stressful. A lot of good people and excellent Teachers, Staff at Central Office are great. I do apprreciatre you all. |
