Principal's Report

Mr. Spivey gave the board report for elementary in the absence of Mrs. White. Elementary online enrollment and immunization records were the most complete before the first day of school than they have been before. Drop off and dismissal have been running smoothly. They loaded 90 cars in 16 minutes using our tag system. They have had community members reach out to the school offering donations for school supplies for our care closet. Mr. Spivey also gave the middle school report for Mr. Massey. Students have been busy taking beginning of the year assessments.
Volleyball is off to a great start. Both 7th and 8th grade swept Arp on Aug 19. Cross Country performed well at their first meet in Marshall. We had 7th girls - 1st Place and 3rd place and 8th Boys - 2nd Place. Football workouts started their after-school practice. 7 GMS students participated in the hunters' safety course with Mr. Vance on August 14. Band has been working hard with 7am practice. We currently have 28 GMS students (7th and 8th grade) in our band. Mr. Compton gave the high school board report. Teachers have begun their goal setting in T-TESS. There are 45 students taking dual credit courses. Meet the Teacher is September 23, 2024. We had 2 baseball players named to the TSWA All State Baseball Honors. Volleyball has a record of 8-3 with 17 girls on the JV/V teams. There are 41 boys in football. Their first hame is August 30, in Waskom. There are 10 HS athletes competing in cross-country. The band has over 40 high school students. They are preparing for their halftime show. The high school has 209 students enrolled in a atleast one CTE course. FFA enrollment is at 290, and they are planning for the Pineywoods Fair in October. |
