3. Acceptance of Consent Agenda
Description:
BACKGROUND: As a good practice, the board should accept the consent agenda for the evening's meeting which includes minutes of the August 24th regular meeting and correspondence to the board. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of the superintendent that the consent agenda be reviewed and accepted. 6. Extended Continuity of Learning Plan
Description:
BACKGROUND: On August 20, 2020 Governor Whitmer signed House Bill 5913 into law as Public Act 149. Section 98a states that in order to receive state aid for 2020-2021, districts must provide for instruction under an extended COVID-19 Learning Plan ("Plan") that has been approved by an intermediate district or authorizing body. The Plan does not replace the District’s/PSA’s COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan, it is an additional plan that includes new assurances and sections on educational goals, instructional delivery, grading, and equitable access. District/PSA educational goals written for all students and all subgroups must be established no later than September 15, 2020 and submitted in their Plan to the ISD or Authorizing Body, as applicable, no later than October 1, 2020 for approval. ISDs and PSAs will transmit the approved plan to the superintendent of public instruction and the state treasurer. Each month, from October 2020 to June 2021, the BOE will see an agenda item for the Reconfirmation of the Extended Continuity of Learning Plan. The district's Extended Contiuity of Learning Plan is attached. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the district's Extended Continuity of Learning Plan as attached. Description:
BACKGROUND: The superintendent and the policy committee have reviewed a special NEOLA update on Title IX, po2266, and it is presented here for a first reading. Final approval of this new policy will include deleting/rescinding po5517.02 Sexual Violence. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of the superintendent and the policy committee to approve the special NEOLA update on Title IX, po2266 for a first reading.
