BACKGROUND: As a good practice, the board should accept the consent agenda for the evening's meeting, which includes minutes of the February 10 work session and the January financial reports.

Description: 
BACKGROUND: The Reading Now Network (RNN) is a collective effort of superintendents, school boards and school districts throughout West Michigan formed to improve early literacy and student achievement across all grade levels. Centreville has been connected with RNN for several years. A resolution regarding the BOE's support of the RNN is attached for review and approval.

RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of the superintendent to approve the attached resolution in support of the RNN.

BACKGROUND: Jim Engemann has submitted a letter indicating his intent to retire at the end of the 2019-20 school year. Jim is a high school math teacher and has been with the district for two years. His retirement letter is attached.

RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of the superintendent to accept the retirement of James Engemann effective June 5, 2020.

Description: 
BACKGROUND: BOE approval is necessary for field trips which are planned to keep students out of the District overnight or longer. The 4th grade classes are seeking approval for an overnight event as outlined in the attached activity application. The details of time and place are confidential for the safety of the students. The 4th grade teachers and several parents will chaperone. This event includes an outdoor educational experience that provides opportunities to reinforce science standards. 

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the 4th grade overnight event as presented.
