V. CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION PRESENTATION/UPDATES FROM SCIENCE, MATH, ART, AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENTS
Description:
The purpose for this special meeting is to provide the Board updates on work that is occurring in various curricular area across the school district. We previously held these reports as part of the monthly school board meeting, but with the change in format to focus on the strategic planning framework, we have set aside two special meetings per year to hear from our curriculum departments.
On Monday evening you will hear from four departments -- science, math, art, and physical education. We have organized the night so that science and math will present during the first hour, and art and physical education will present during the second hour. We will be dividing into two groups that will rotate through each department for about 25 minutes each. Tim Schell has provided the departments with the following guidelines for their presentations: 1. What is new? 2. Success Stories 3. Review the work that is occurring within each department. 4. Questions and Answers Reminder -- we are meeting in the Large Group Area at Heritage Elementary -- this location is the old Heritage Library. The time of the meeting is 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Math has provided a link to a video they invite you to view before Monday's meeting. Matt Larson is one of the authors of our new grades 5-8 math materials and is currently President of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhNqhBltoDQ Science has provided a link to the web page of the Science Leadership Team that you are invited to browse. You will need to be logged in to Google with your district email account to access this site. If you encounter any problems, please contact Tim Schell. https://sites.google.com/a/waunakee.k12.wi.us/waunakee-science-department/ |
