6.A. Enrollment Reports
 

6.A.1. Community Education Courses.  The Director, Community Education, reports the attached enrollment data for the month of March 2019-2023.
 

6.A.2. Center for Business/Industry Training.  The Director, Center for Business/Industry Training, reports the attached enrollment data for the month of March 2019-2023.
 

6.B. Report of Taxes Collected.  Attached is the report of taxes collected for the month of March 2023.
 

6.C. Report of Unfilled Positions.  The Vice President, Human Resources, provides the attached report on vacant positions that are currently being advertised.   
 

6.D. Resignations and Retirements.

Ms. Sherry Batts, Operations Manager, Center for Business & Industry Training, has submitted her notice of resignation, effective April 7, 2023.  

Mr. John Ditto, Director of Facility Services, has submitted his notice of resignation, effective April 21, 2023.  
 

6.E. New Teachers for Community Education Program.  Attached is a communication from the Director, Community Education, reporting four new teachers for the Community Education Program.
 

6.F. Fund Development Report.  The Vice President, College Advancement & Enrollment, provides the attached report on fund development activities of the Brazosport College Foundation for the months of April and May 2023.
 

6.G. Board Focus Report.  The Vice President, College Advancement & Enrollment, provides the Board Focus Report for the first quarter of 2023. The report is a summary of Regent Visibility activities from January 1, 2023 – March 31, 2023.
 

6.H. Bookstore Performance Report.  Please find attached the bookstore performance report for Texas Book Company’s fiscal year ending March 31, 2023.
 

6.I. Title IX Incident Report.  Effective September 1, 2019, under Texas Education Code, Section 51.253(c), the Chief Executive Officer of a postsecondary educational institution is required to submit a data report at least once each fall or spring semester to the institution’s governing body concerning incidents that constitute sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking. In compliance with this new legislation, the President provides the attached Title IX Incident Report.
 

6.J. Community Education 2023 Summer Schedule.  The Director, Community Education, provides the attached Summer 2023 Community Education Schedule. 

The President, under authority granted by the Board, has approved this recommendation.
 

6.K. BC Foundation Gator Classic.  The Brazosport College Foundation Gator Classic, presented by Freeport LNG, will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Wilderness Golf Course. The Gator Classic is co-chaired by Jay Gibson and Courtney Birdsong. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., lunch served at 11:00 a.m., putting challenge at 12:00 p.m., helicopter ball drop at 12:15 p.m., and a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The tournament will begin in a standard scramble format with 144 players. Along the course, players will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of skills challenge holes and activities, enjoy delicious cuisine prepared and served by area corporations, and interact with Brazosport College students. The tournament will conclude with the Blue Jacket Awards Presentation and a crawfish boil with live music.  
 

6.L. Distinguished Student Ceremony.  Brazosport College annually recognizes up to 20 students, who through a college-wide nomination process, are selected as distinguished students.  The 2022-2023 Distinguished Student Awards Ceremony will be held Monday, April 24, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., in The Clarion.
 

6.M. Gator Grab Auction/Gator Day/Strive 2 Drive Car Drawing. The annual Gator Grab Auction is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in the MEGlobal Student Pavilion at Brazosport College. The event is to raise funds for scholarships and is held in conjunction with Gator Day, which is sponsored by Student Life. The drawing for the Strive2Drive car will be held at 1:00 p.m. as a part of these events. Members of the Board of Regents are invited to attend the events. Lunch is provided.
 

6.N. ADN Pinning Ceremony.  The ADN Pinning Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 6 p.m. in the Clarion. 
 

6.O. Commencement 2023. The Vice President, College Advancement & Enrollment, provides the attached report with an overview of the 2023 Commencement activities. 

Commencement exercises for the 2022-2023 academic year are scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College. The two ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The college will host a lunch at Gator Hall for faculty, staff, commencement guests, and board members between the two ceremonies.
 

6.P. Community Education Graduation.  Community Education Graduation ceremonies for students completing Adult Education and Literacy and Workforce Programs will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in The Clarion.
 

6.Q. Law Enforcement Academy Graduation.  The Law Enforcement Academy Graduation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Clarion.  
 

6.R. 2023 CCATT Annual Conference.  The 2023 Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) Annual Conference has been set for Thursday, Friday & Saturday, September 14-16, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Marriott Hotel and Golf Course at Champion Circle. The theme for the conference is Inspiring Innovation: Community College Governance for the Future. Members of the Board of Regents are encouraged to attend with Dr. Vincent Solis, President. Registration for the conference is to be made through Annaliza Gideon, Executive Assistant to the President.
 

6.S. ACCT Leadership Congress.  The 2023 ACCT Annual Leadership Congress is scheduled for October 9-12, 2023, at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The theme of the conference is Building a Legacy: Uplifting Students and Transforming Communities. Members of the Board of Regents are encouraged to attend the conference with Dr. Vincent Solis, President. Registration for the conference is to be made through Annaliza Gideon, Executive Assistant to the President, no later than Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in order to ensure a lower rate for the conference and hotel. 6.T. Board Policy Review.  At the Board Workshop on February 13-14, 2009, Regents initiated a systematic review of Board policy.  It was suggested that a number of Board policies be included for review as part of each monthly agenda.  Questions regarding the referenced policy may be addressed to the President prior to the meeting for clarification and/or discussion.

6.U. Brazosport College Calendar.  The Brazosport College Calendar for April 21, 2023 through June 19, 2023 is attached.
 

7. Reports/Presentations
 

7.A. Student Senate/Student Life/Intramural Reports.  Representatives from Student Government Association, the Student Life Board, and Intramurals will provide information on their 2022-2023 goal accomplishments as well as an update on events and activities held during this last academic year.
 

7.B. Bernstein Quarterly Report on Endowment Funds.  Shannon Willems, Bernstein, will present the quarterly report on endowment funds.

8. New Business
 

8.A. Mission, Vision, and Core Values.  At the annual Board Workshop, the Mission, Vision and Core Values were reviewed and no edits to the Vision Statement and Core Values were made.  The Mission, Vision, and Core Values are attached.

It would be appropriate for the Board to confirm the Brazosport College Mission, Vision and Core Values.
 

8.B. Vision 2025.  Vision 2025 is presented to the Board as part of the annual planning process. Input for these proposed changes and additions were gathered from the annual Board Workshop, the college community, and the Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Council. The attachments include an Executive Summary, Goal Benchmarks and Progress, and Vision 2025.  

It would be appropriate for the Board to consider approval of the updated Vision 2025. 
 

8.C. Community Education Tuition and Fees for Summer Semester.  Attached is a communication from the Director, Community Education, recommending tuition and fees for all Summer 2023 Community Education Courses. 

The President recommends approval of these fees as presented.

It would be appropriate for the Board to approve this recommendation.
 

8.D. Financial Report.  The Vice President, Financial Services & CFO, provides the attached financial report for March 2023. 

It is recommended that the Board accept the financial report.
 

9. Executive Session.  Adjournment to executive/closed session pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Sections 551.071 and 551.074, for the following purposes:

A. Consultation with the Board's Attorney.

Private consultation with the Board’s legal counsel regarding any item on this meeting agenda, personnel matters, and all subjects or matters authorized by law in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with the Open Meetings Act.

B. Personnel.

Deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of an employee or hear a complaint against an employee, including a recommendation for nonrenewal of a contract.

1. To discuss evaluation, contract and employment terms and contract renewal for the President.

2. Consider the authority of the President, in consultation with the Board’s legal counsel, to negotiate and execute a severance agreement with a vice president.
