6.A. Public Hearings on Proposed Tax Rate.  State law requires that the Board set two public hearings for the purpose of considering and adopting a tax rate for public institutions.  No action will be taken during these meetings.  The dates that have been set for these hearings are Monday, August 20, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.  Both hearings will take place in the Corporate Learning Center, Room 104. 
 

7. New Business
 

7.A. Record Vote to Propose Tax Increase.  It would be appropriate for the Board to propose a tax rate of $.298500, which is a tax increase of 4.56% above the Effective Tax Rate, to be adopted at a future meeting.
 

7.B. Employment of Deborah Ewing as Director, Community Education. Included in the agenda is a communication from the Vice President, Industry and Community Resources, recommending the employment of Deborah Ewing as Director, Community Education, for the remainder of the 2017-2018 academic year and the 2018-2019 academic year. A biographical summary and position notice are also included.

The President joins in this recommendation. It would be appropriate for the Board to approve the contract for the period and conditions identified.
 

7.C. Consideration and Action to Fill Board Member Vacancy. It would be appropriate for the Board to consider the appointment of a member to fill Board Position 6.  The vacancy was created by the resignation of Sharon Rogers.
